Kerins O’Rahillys To Host Talks On Mental Health For Sports Communities

KERINS O’Rahillys GAA club has announced that — in association with State of Mind Ireland — they will be hosting a number of information events in the club over the coming months which will focus on improving the mental health, well being and working life of sports people and sporting communities.

Club chairman, Haulie Kerins said; “Its a great opportunity for our coaches, mentors and parents to have recourse to such events which will be delivered by Tralee natives, Dr Susan Lawlor and her brother Dr Martin Lawlor.

“We are the first GAA club in Kerry to partner with State of Mind and we are looking forward to the opening event which will take place in the club house on Friday night, November 17 at 8pm.”

State of Mind Ireland is a joint initiative between University College of Cork (UCC), the Health Service Executive (HSE), Reach Out, All Island All Active (AIAA), Shine and The Centre for Recovery and Social Inclusion (CRSI).

Their aim is to improve the mental health, wellbeing and working life of sports players and sporting communities throughout Ireland.

The programme team is comprised of service users, players, coaches, mental health experts and sport professionals.
