JUVENILE ACADEMY
Last Sunday was another busy day for all involved in Kerins O’ Rahilly’s Juvenile  Academy where indoor training continued in Kerry Sports Academy with over 100 girls and boys in attendance . Our  qualified and dedicated coaches as always ensured  that the children not only learnt their skills but also had fun in the process.

Indoor training will continue next Sunday in the  Kerry Sports Academy. New members are always welcome to join us.

Details regarding St. Patrick’s Day parade will be issued shortly.

Thanks as always to all our volunteers and everyone who helps to ensure the smooth running of our Juvenile Academy. Without you it would not be possible.

U12 BOYS
After a number of false starts we finally kicked off our 2020 campaign away to our neighbours St Pats. With several players making their debut at this grade it took us most of the first half to settle into our stride.
During that period St Pats played some great football and kicked some lovely scores. We struggled with their pace and ability and only kicked 2 scores in the first half – a goal from Daniel McCarthy and Jude Lacey, a point.

We regrouped at half time and started the second half with great drive and determination outscoring St Pats 4-01 to no score in the first 7 minutes. In this period we were lead by Nick Lacey who scored 2 goals. Rory Kennedy won several  important balls to keep the pressure on and provided an assist for  Daniel McCarthy to add his second of the game. Jude Lacey grabbed the other goal in this period to keep the pressure on also to the fore at this time were Ryan Onyekwere , Cayden Roche and Sam Keane.

After putting so much into the game it was inevitable we ran out of legs and a number of changes were made to try to maintain the momentum but St Pats regained control and had another purple patch to put the game out of reach.

We again regrouped to finish strongly and with the introduction of Mark Hassett, Calum Lacey, Davy Jay Flaherty , finished on the front foot.
Best for Kerins O’Rahilly on the day were Ciarán  Griffin, Jude Lacey, Rory Kennedy and Nick Lacey.

U14 BOYS
We got our season off to a great start on Sunday morning with a very comprehensive  win over our neighbours Stacks.
Ryan Houlihan opened the scoring with a lovely point and was followed shortly by a goal from Tomás  Kennedy. The forwards were on top throughout the game and gave Stacks backs a very hard time. The mid field pairing of Ryan Houlihan scoring 1-01  and Jake Hoare scoring 0-01 excelled all day and got some great ball in the air. Odhran Foley was very solid in goals in the first half and played a great game out field in the second half. Brayden Pierce had a great first half in the backs scoring one point and continued with some great saves when he went into goals for the second half. The others backs on the day were Cian Lynch, Oisín  Cronin (who finished with  a lovely point),  Aaron Horgan who also scored  a lovely point, Seamus Cahill had a great game scoring 2 goals.
The forwards had a great day creating some lovely plays and showed some great skills. Cillian Hussey and Ruairí Kennedy  gave a great display in front of goals all day and really gave the Stacks backs a very tough day out. Odhran Kerins (1-01), Jamie McCarthy (1-03) and Tomas Kennedy (2-04)  showed that nothing has changed from last season and are well ready for the season ahead.
Final score 5-15 to 0-05. Next game is away to St Pats on Sunday 15th at 11a.m.
