WEEKLY NEWS

Kerins O’Rahillys’ sixth annual 10km/5km run and walk will commence at 11am on Sunday, 26th of January next.

LADIES NOTES

Thanks to everyone for attending our AGM and awards night last Saturday evening. We had a great turnout and had plenty of silverware on the table. Thanks also to Declan Quill for presenting the girls with their awards.

U12 GIRLS

Our U12s were presented with their Co. League and North Kerry medals. Kelly Fitzgerald was captain for the Co. League and Sara Reka was captain for North Kerry. Michelle, Rory and Pádraig thanked the girls and their parents for their enjoyable year in 2019 and wished the girls who are moving up the best of luck.

Kelly Fitzgerald was also acknowledged for playing in all age groups from U12s to U16s and was presented with the ‘ Juvenile Player of the Year’ Cup. Congrats to everyone!

U14 GIRLS

The U14s had a busy year and are looking forward to 2020.

Lauren Doody captained the winning side back in Currans for the Co. League.

Katie Nix was captain for North Kerry in the plate final after we were defeated by Abbeydorney in the Shield.

We had joint captains for the Town League final – Hollie Leane and Keelan Coffey.

Congrats to Ava Ward who received ‘Most Improved Player’ for 2019 and Keelan Coffey who received ‘ Player of the Year.’

U15 DISTRICT

Congrats to Jennifer Murphy ( Captain) , Eugenie Kerins, Isobel O’ Connor, Eadrea Hayes, Kate Kerins and Siúna Crowe who were part of the winning Tralee District  team.

U15 CHAMPIONSHIP

‘Player of the Match’ went to Rachael O’ Donnell and rightly so. With only a minute to go Rachael scored a goal which made it a two-point game with seconds on the clock. We won the kick out, got a free which was passed to Rachael again and her high looping kick went in over everyone including the goalkeeper to find the roof of the net for us to be ahead by one point with 10 seconds to go. What an exciting finish it was!

U15 GIRLS

Our U15 ‘Player of the Year’ went to Katie Nix. Katie was U14 but had a great role to play also in U15 and U16 games. Well deserved Katie!

Our ‘Most Improved Player’ was Aoibhín O’ Connor MacCarthy.

U16 GIRLS

Our ‘Most Improved Player’ was Éabha Murphy. Unfortunately Éabha couldn’t make it but was delighted when she was skyped with her great news.

We had 2 ‘Players of the Year’ – Katie Dwyer and Liana Williams. Congrats girls to all of you.

Our U16s were finalists in the Co. League and won the North Kerry shield.

Con O’ Connor our U16 manager complimented the girls on the work they put in on winter and summer nights in his report.

He said the fun, the friendships, the camaraderie, the never say die attitude by every single one of them fighting for one another and every ball in every game , they had many wins but how well they conducted themselves on the field during and after every game made Tricia, Paddy and himself proud.

SENIOR LADIES

Congrats to Laima Rodenbikere  who received ‘Most Improved Player’ for 2019 and to Carol Daly our ‘ Player of the Year.’ Our senior manager Erris who played as well as managing the team presented the ladies with their awards.

MENTAL FITNESS AND WELLBEING PROGRAM

Many thanks to Dr. Susan Lawlor for speaking to the parents of our U14 and U16 girls and boys last Thursday evening.

Susan will be running work shops this week commencing with the U14 girls in the club.

ROCK STREET POST OFFICE CLUB LOTTO COMPETITION

The Club is currently competing with other clubs for the sole rights to sell our Club Lotto tickets in Rock Street Post Office from April 2020.  To help us win this competition, all you have to do is mention your support for Kerins O’Rahillys when you make any financial transaction in Rock Street Post Office and you will collect points for the club.  The points are collected by stamping a card that you can keep yourself or else leave in the Post Office if that’s handier for you.  When the card is full, you can give it to Paula O’Sullivan of our Management Committee or else hand it into Rock Street Post Office – and then start a new card!  The number of points awarded depends on the type of transaction you make.  For example, if you open a new deposit account, you will earn five points for Kerins O’Rahillys and if you buy a booklet of 10 stamps, you will earn the club two points.  We are asking all club members and supporters to get behind us in our efforts to win the competition.  So if you’re using any of the services at Rock Street Post Office, then think Kerins O’Rahillys when you’re in there!  All support welcome.

·          Don’t forget the Kerins O’Rahillys 10k on Sunday next, 26th January.
