KERINS O’Rahilly’s trainer, Maurice Horan, has been appointed as a member of the Mayo senior footballers backroom staff.

Horan will take over video analysis for the Connacht champions. It was announced when new manager, Stephen Rochford, finalised his management team.

Though a native of Ballinrobe, Mayo, the former Limerick manager has been living in Tralee the past couple of years.

Last year he came on board with Kerins O’Rahillys as trainer of the senior side who exited the county championship at the quarter-final stage. He won’t be staying on in his role as trainer with the Strand Road club.

Maurice Horan managed Limerick for three seasons between 2011 – 2013 and guided the county to their first senior football quarter-final when they lost to Kerry in Croke Park.

Rochford and his management team are set to be ratified at a Mayo county board meeting next week. He will take over from joint managers Pat Holmes and Noel Connolly who stepped down last month following pressure from players.
