€1.5 million in aid has been granted this morning towards the operating costs of Kerry Airport, under the Government funded Regional Airports Programme.

This funding is targeted at vital safety and security operations at airports such as air traffic control, fire services and security, ensuring airports can continue to remain compliant with regulatory requirements in these areas.

Welcoming the funding Kerry TD and Minister for Education Norma Foley said: “Kerry Airport is enormously important both to the infrastructure and economy of County Kerry Kerry and the Southwest. This funding, coupled with the financial supports provided in the budget in October and early November will go some way towards helping Kerry Airport remain financially sustainable as itplans for a time beyond Covid-19.
