Kerry Airport Reports Increase In Operating Profit

OPERATING profit at Kerry Airport rose last year according the Annual Report & Accounts for 2015.

Kerry Airport has released their Annual Report and Accounts for the 12 month period ended which reveals an operating profit after taxation for the period of €30,980 – an increase on Operating Profit of €12,085 on the previous year.

The report also shows passenger numbers through the Airport up 4% on previous comparative period to 307,089 passengers.  Growth on Dublin of 20% a positive note for the year with PLF (Passenger Load Factors) up from 56% to 67%.

Elsewhere in the report it showed;

• Turnover down -5% from €6.0m to €5.8m due to fall in Fuel Sales but other elements of the Airport’s trading activities grew by 9.3% giving an overall 8% increase in Gross Profit year on year.

• €505k spent during the year on areas of Safety & Security including upgraded security facilities and firefighting equipment with the support of funding from the Department of Transport, Tourism & Sport.

• Government Operating Grant allocated to Airport for 2015 under Regional Airport’s Programme 2015-2019 was €311k   – down from €507k previous year.

• New PSO Contract on Kerry-Dublin route now interlining with nine Aer Lingus USA cities as well as new interlining arrangements with Etihad Airlines to Middle East and Australia.

Commenting on the financials and the on-going operations of the Airport for the year, Mr. Denis Cregan, Chairman of Kerry Airport said: “The year 2015 showed a welcome return to positive passenger growth with of +4 increase year on year.  We continue to explore and pursue new destinations, and new airlines, as well as holding discussions to increase frequencies to our existing destination with our current carriers.  We have intensified our activities in this area recently but we expect results will have a long lead-in time.”

The Kerry Airport Plc AGM will be held in the Earl Of Desmond Hotel on Wednesday, June 22.
