Kerry London 2The Kerry Association London has set a deadline of July 3 for the receipt of nomination forms for its Kerry Person of the Year award.

The annual award will be presented to the Kerry person who has made the largest contribution to the social, sporting or cultural life of Kerry people living in the British capital.

The presentation will be made at the association’s annual dinner dance at the Crown Hotel in Cricklewood on October 16.

Nominations open this week (forms can be downloaded from the website kerryassociationlondon.co.uk) and will remain open until early July. Additional forms are also available from committee members.

“Anybody, not just members can make a nomination,” said association secretary Tara Cronin. “But the only stipulation is that the nominee must be of Kerry descent. I am calling on the Irish community in London and even on people at home to let us know of some of the great Kerry people that are working hard to make London a better place. If you know of somebody that you think  is deserving of this prestigious award please get in touch with me or any association member and let us know who that is. We want to have as many nominations as possible on the table before we make our final selection and the only way of ensuring that we make the right decision is that people must make us aware of the great people that out there.”

The selection process will be begin on July 8, during the association’s monthly meeting but the actual winner will be kept a secret until mid-September.

The purpose of making the early nomination process is to allow the winner the  time to invite family from Ireland and take advantage of early airline booking fares.

The Kerry Association London meets regularly at the Kingdom Bar, 229 Kilburn High Road, London NW6 7JG. New members are welcome and further details can be found at the association’s website: kerryassocationlondon.co.uk
