Research: Autism and Epilepsy

KAA have been asked to circulate the following information from a Psychology student at NUI Galway who is currently conducting research with The Irish Centre for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Research (ICAN).

She is seeking parents’ responses to help understand more about the day to day challenges Autism produces. In particular, this research focuses on the challenges produced by the combination of Autism and Epilepsy.

However, the researcher would like to hear from parents whose children have Autism without Epilepsy too so that she can compare their unique difficulties.

If you are a parent and you would like to participate in this research, please click on the following link to this study: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1FrBB3keeegMEb6C3-4_m9waqx3Mabf5_H2TJ8G63eYk/viewform

New Resources

We have recently come across some new autism resources designed by a former mainstream and special needs teacher who has a son with autism.

The resources are designed to appeal to a wide age range, with clear layouts on plain backgrounds and are very easy for parents/ carers to use.

The resources can be downloaded (for a small cost) and then printed out as often as you like for your own personal use. You can laminate for repeated use. New resources will be added in the coming weeks and months. For more information and to download the resources, please go to:

Monthly Meeting

Kerry Autism Action’s next monthly meeting takes place on Wednesday 27th April 2016 at 7.30pm in St. Brendan’s Pastoral Centre (upstairs), Rock Street Tralee. We will have a guest speaker in attendance.

Our meetings take place in a relaxed friendly atmosphere where parents can chat and share experiences. Information leaflets are readily available for parents to take away with them. New members always welcome.
