Another Busy Weekend for Kerry Badminton

The first juvenile competition of the year took place this past Saturday in the Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre.

It was great to see all the young players enjoying the games and getting back into the swing of it. There was a good entry on the day with players from all the different clubs participating.

It was a doubles competition where you were given a partner. They’re was a competition run ipfir both the boys and girls in all age groups with a plate also being played for those who lost their first games.

Mixed Doubles Tournament 

The Mixed tournament took place yesterday, Sunday the 27th of November in the Presentation Gym Killarney. Once again, there was a good entry for each of the division with the division 5 and 3 men having to play doubles in order to have the honour to play with one of the ladies. Similarly to last week it was a draw for partners.

Division 5: The Junior Griffin Shield

The Division 5s played out some very good, close games but in the end Stacey McCoy (Ballyheighue) & Jofin David (Tralee) came out on top against Grainne Twomey (Ballybunion) & Pat Reidy Tralee.

Division 4: Mixed Shield

There was a good entry again here with some very competitive games and a very close 3 set set final 2 Killarney Brothers going head to head with Alvin Rahman Fahad (Killarney) & Sara Hayes (Listowel)  coming out the eventual winners over Rahad Rahman (Killarney ) & Annette Sheehan (Kingdom Castleisland) on a score line of 21/8, 14/21, & 21/12.

Division 3: The Waterstone Cup

Here, you the men first played out a doubles playoff in order to get into the mixed draw as there was less women than men entered. The mixed was then played out in a round robin format of 1 game to 21. In the end it came down to the final game of the format where Paul Hayes (Listowel) & Josie Gilbert (Ballyheighue) beat Kieran Crehan (Killarney) and Carmel Hudson (Moyvane) to win the Waterstone Cup

Division 1+2 : The Paddy Drummond 

In division 1&2 they played a straight final which was very close, going to 3 sets. In the end Jennifer Nash (Killarney) & Mariusz Tszinski Kingdom (Castleisland) came out the winners against Ruth Concannon (Kingdom Castleisland) & Ushes GR (Ballyheighue) on a score line of 21/16, 16/21, & 21/18.

I’d like to thank all those who helped with the running of the competition, the day was run very successfully and I hope all the players enjoyed the day.

Next Sunday, the 4th of December, the Knock Out Cup will take place in the Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre we hope to see you all there again next weekend.
