Kerry Schools Badminton Competition 2023

The Schools Badminton Tournament took place Monday last the 17th of January in the Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre.

All in all, it was a great turnout from schools across the county. 10 different schools took part on the day with 37 teams entered altogether through all of the different age groups.

It was great to see that there was a fairly even split between girls and boys teams with 17 girls teams entered and 20 boys teams.

The closest competition of the day was the u19 girls competition where it went down to points and the winners prevailing by just 1 single point in the end.

A big thank you to all those who helped to organize the competition and to those who were helping there on the day also.

The results on the day were as follows:

U14 Boys:

1st:  St. Michaels College, Listowel.

2nd: Presentation Secondary School, Miltown

3rd: CBS The Green, Tralee.

U16 Boys:

1st Presentation Secondary School, Milltown.

2nd St. Michaels College, Listowel.

3rd  Tarbert Comprehensive Secondary School.

U19 Boys:

1st St. Michaels College, Listowel.

2nd Presentation Secondary School, Milltown.

3rd St. Brendans College, Killarney.

U14 Girls:

1st Presentation Secondary School, Milltown

2nd Presentation Secondary School, Listowel.

3rd Presentation Secondary School, Tralee.

U16 Girls:

1st Presentation Secondary School, Listowel.

2nd Presentation Secondary School, Milltown.

3rd Presentation Secondary School, Tralee.

U19 Girls:

1st Tarbert Comprehensive Secondary School

2nd St. Brigids Secondary School, Killarney

3rd Presentation Secondary School, Milltown.

Munster U13 and U17 Juvenile Intercounty Competition.

There was a great turnout this past weekend, for the Munster juvenile Intercounty competition for u13 and u17 teams. This is a team event where a mixed team of each of the countys play off against each other to become Munster champions.

The age groups are also split in 2 different grades so you have an A and a B competition in each age group. All in all, there was 4 competitions that took place on the day. The turnout by each of the counties was very good with each county having at least 1 team per age group with many counties entering an A and a B team per age category.  Kerry had 2 teams competing in the u13 age group and they also had a team in the u17 age group.

All teams and counties played very well on the day with some great badminton being put on show by the kids. Well done to all players who took part on the day, Cork and Clare were most successful both going home with 3 different teams after receiving medals for there efforts on the day. A big congratulations to the Kerry u17 team who got runners up in the u17 A competition. The other results were as follows.
