CPC.ie Juvenile November Handicap 

Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre played host to the first major Juvenile tournament of the season last Saturday (Nov 24th) and with 155 players taking part from 10 different clubs across the county the future of badminton in Kerry looks to be in a good place.

Participants took part in girls and boys events throughout the day at age grades U-11, U-13, U15 and U-17 and the winners and finalists on the day were as follows.

Girls U11 Nicole Vesko Listowel and Aine Curran Annascaul defeated Darina Ellen Burke Miltown and Lily Falvey Annascaul 15/5, 15/3

Plate Juliette Gleason Abbeydorney and Sinead Kelly Listowel defeated Maggie Hickey Killarney and Aine Newsome Annascaul

84 players took to the courts at Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre on Sunday last (Nov 25th) across Div 1 to Div 5 and the winners on the day were as follows.

Leinster Masters Open Success 

Three Kerry representatives Sinead Galvin, Michael Crossan and Tom Bourke (the new Chairperson of the Kerry Badminton Association) made the trip to Baldoyle in Dublin last weekend for the Leinster Masters Open and we are delighted to report that Tom came out on tops in the Men’s over 40s Singles event.

Butterfield Cup / Knockout Cup

Kerry has the great honour of hosting the prestigious Butterfield Cup this weekend as the top Division 1 players in the province go head to head in this inter county team event. Kerry under the stewardship of Billy Lacey will be looking to recapture a title they last won in 2014.

The event which will be hosted by the Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre this Sunday and coincides with another team event called the Knock-Out Cup. This event comprises of teams of up to 4 Men and 4 Ladies.

Each team plays 2 men’s doubles against each other, 2 ladies doubles and 2 mixed doubles. The event is contested at Div 3, 4 and 5 level and is great practice for clubs intending to put Club teams together for the Mixed Leagues later in the season. The action gets underway in both competitions at 11am.
