Munster Individual Championships Grades F, G and H
The University of Limerick was the venue for the first major badminton event involving Kerry badminton players last Sunday (Jan 6th) and the Kingdom was particularly well represented particularly in grades G and H.
Listowel duo Rita McCarthy and Valerie Guiney were the big winners on the day from a Kerry perspective as they captured the Ladies Doubles Grade G title in two sets 21-17, 22-20.
Honourable mention goes to Ciara Hudson (Moyvane) who reached the final of the Grade F Ladies singles, Breda Lane (Moyvane) and Valerie Guiney (Listowel) on reaching the Grade G Ladies singles semi-finals and Micheal Collins (Moyvane) on reaching the semi-final of the Grade G Mens singles.

Listowel Tournament
The Listowel tournament which has been run annually since 1972 takes place this weekened. Unlike most club events in Kerry the Listowel tournament is played over two days and includes Masters Event for the over 45s as well as a Division 1 and 2 combined competition played on the Saturday (Jan 12th)
The action gets underway at 10.30am on the Saturday for the Division 1 and 2 players which is open to both Kerry players and those from outside the county. The Masters event will commence from 2pm.
On the Sunday Division 5 is scheduled to get underway from 11.45am, division 4 from 2.30pm and division 3 from 4pm. Entry forms have been distributed to each Kerry club secretary. For extra details contact Miss Margaret Healy at 087 9604361 or at mgthealy@hotmail.com
Senior Leagues
All the league fixtures in the Ladies Agri Auto Parts and the Mens Advanced Cleaning Supplies Division 3 and 4 leagues have now concluded and the finals will take place at the Tralee Sports Complex this Wednesday night (January 9th). We will have a full report next week in badminton news.
