THE Kerry branch of the Samaritans are urgently looking to recruit new volunteers and are holding an information night in Tralee next Monday.

Kerry Samaritans had 35, 909  contacts in 2016. These contacts included telephone calls, emails and people who called to the branch.  Since the introduction of the free to caller number in 2014 their calls have increased dramatically as removing the cost barrier has made it easier for people to access our support.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer and can afford to spare three hours per week then call to the information night next Monday, October 9 at 7.30 pm at their centre in 43-44 Moyderwell, Tralee, for enquiries please call Josephine on 087 9158779.

Samaritans have 13 branches in the Republic of Ireland and volunteers are available round the clock 365 days a year for anyone who feels they need to talk in confidence about whatever is troubling them. Every six seconds someone makes a call to Samaritans.

They are there to listen to anyone who feels they need to talk about whatever is worrying them without the fear of being judged, the free phone number for the Samaritans is 116123.
