Kerry Cancer Support Group And Recovery Haven To Attend Cancer Survivors Conference

Recovery Haven Tralee will attend the cancer survivors conference in Dublin next month.

REPRESENTATIVES from the Kerry Cancer Support Group and Tralee’s Recovery Haven will be attending a Irish Cancer Society conference for cancer survivors in Dublin next month.

The two day event will be held in the Aviva Stadium on September 18 and 19 and which will be entitled ‘Living Well With Cancer’ is open to cancer survivors, their family and friends.

A range of Irish and international speakers will share their experiences, stories and expert knowledge at the conference which aims to help those affected by cancer to tackle the physical and emotional consequences which can be associated with a cancer diagnosis and the subsequent treatment.

Speakers at the upcoming conference will include:

• Dr Keith Bellizzi on life after cancer treatment.

• Ms Caroline Casey, social entrepreneur and adventurer on valuing ability.

• Dr Paul D’Alton, on mindfulness and looking after the self.

• Mr Dermot O’Neill, cancer survivor and broadcaster on the restorative effects of gardening.

• Dr Jenny Westrup, on living with, through and beyond a cancer diagnosis.

Aside from the main talks, there will practical sessions with art, music, yoga, exercise and nutrition at the event.

This is the Irish Cancer Society’s 22nd National Conference for Cancer Survivorship and it is expected that over 800 cancer survivors will attend the conference to share information and support with others affected by the disease.
