Kerry College Students Organise Seminar On ‘Drink Awareness’

KERRY ETB’s Kerry College’s Denny Street students organised a Health Promotion Seminar on Thursday.

This seminar entitled “Drink Awareness” was was an integral part of the Advanced Social Care student’s course and they were responsible for all aspects of the event.

Expert speakers from the HSE Health Promotion Unit, NEWKD Community Drugs Initiative, Kerry Children and Young People Services Committee, TUSLA, AA Speakers and Kerry College were present.

The seminar  focused on the impact of alcohol on our health and well-being, highlighting the importance of changing attitudes to alcohol consumption and leading a healthy life style.

Kerry College Denny Street Campus located in Tralee town centre is dedicated to offering Health Care and Social Sciences programmes.  Last September, saw the introduction of a new Level 6 Advanced Social Care course.

The Social Studies Department has already a large volume of applications for September 2020 intake and looks forward to the provision of further seminars to engage secondary, further education and third level student cohorts going forward. For further information, check out the website www.kerrycollege.ie.

    This is great, the impact of alcohol and drugs is terrible on out society and has to be tackled in schools more. I remember when I was a student the highlighting of STD’s and in particular HIV/AIDS too.
