Kerry Comhaltas Invites Public To Take Part In Competition

KERRY County Board of Comhaltas in conjunction with Fleadh Cheoil Chiarraí 2021 are inviting people to take part in their new competition.

Thanks to sponsorship received from Chapter 23 Kerry & West Limerick Credit Union they are opening our Comhaltas Chiarraí History Project 2021 to all in the county of Kerry.

“Our aim is to preserve the traditional heritage of our county and especially important to involve our younger generation in doing so,” reads a press release issued by Kerry Comhaltas.

“There are two age groups, U12 and U15, with prizes for best overall and most original projects. We are asking individuals or families to prepare a project on the history of any of the following categories:

1. A well-known musician, singer, dancer, storyteller in your local area or Comhaltas branch who would have knowledge of the Irish traditions and cultures down through the years.

2. An event/activity/custom that used to or still takes place in your area/branch e.g. Rambling House, Crossroads Dancing.

3. Any one-off event e.g. concert involving well known musicians, a book publication, a branch celebration, anniversary or commemoration.”
