THE Kerry Convention Bureau (KCB) is looking ahead to better times for all their members in 2021, following an exceptionally challenging year, which saw dramatic collapse of the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and events) business tourism and wider hospitality sector, due to the global pandemic.

But as they bid a close to 2020, Kerry Convention Bureau believes there is great reason to be hopeful for 2021 and will also host a special event this coming Monday.

KCB Manager, Becky Hargrove said; “In true Kerry style, we are extending a message of warmth and welcome to our global community of clients and industry partners by wishing them a very Kerry Christmas virtually this year.”

Ms Hargrove continued; “We are working closely with our members to look forward and focus on new solutions and innovative ways to safely bring visitors to Kerry, both in person and virtually”.

Amongst the new solutions being implemented is the ability for venues to hold Hybrid Events, providing an interim solution for the MICE sector, while domestic and international travel and meetings continues to be restricted.

Hybrid events combine both in-person and virtual experiences and are likely to form an integral component of the events industry moving forward.

The bureau and their members are also focusing on creating digital content, which can be used to showcase what the region has to offer to event planners, when it is safe to meet again, including its wide open spaces, immersive, nature based activities and world class accommodation and meeting facilities.

There is also some much-needed respite for their members, as Kerry Convention Bureau look forward to hosting their ‘Very Kerry Christmas Event’ on Tuesday, December 8.

This event will be hosted in conjunction with Failte Ireland and Orangeworks and will be a mixture of socialising and fun online for their 45 participants.

The event will enable Kerry based members, Dublin Destination Management Companies and key industry partners to connect together as they close out the year. In the spirit of giving, participants are also being encouraged to make donations to the Kerry branch of St. Vincent de Paul.

Working closely in partnership with Fáilte Ireland, the National Tourism Development Authority, KCB fosters the promotion and growth of Kerry as an iconic and diverse destination for business tourism events including national and international conventions, meetings and incentives, offering a completely free service to anyone looking to hold an event in Kerry.
