THE Kerry Cancer Support Group’s Kerry Cork Health Link Bus literally caught the eye of journalist Brian O’Connell last week which will result in the service being featured on the Sean O’Rourke Show on RTE Radio 1 on Tuesday morning.

Mr O’Connell saw the service while out and about in Cork and decided to investigate what the service was all about.

He travelled to Tralee on Wednesday evening and met with the Kerry Cork Health Link Bus at McDonalds at 8am Thursday morning to travel to Cork University Hospital.

He did in-depth interviews with the service users as well as some of the Charities directors and bus drivers. The piece is due to be aired on the Today show with Seán O’Rourke this Tuesday between 10am and 12pm.

Mr O’Connell is based in Cork and is an award-winning journalist, author and broadcaster who writes on a variety of topics for the Irish Times, from news to features, and has a particular interest in public health stories.

He is a well known contributor to Irish radio and television, and is a weekly reporter on Today with Seán O’Rourke on RTE Radio 1. He has made a number of radio documentaries and series for RTE Radio and appears weekly on RTE Today.

Brian’s book, ‘Wasted’, published in 2009, examined Ireland’s alcohol culture.
