The Kerry ETB Wind Turbine course offered excellent opportunities for graduates.

KERRY ETB is running a course where the graduates have excellent opportunities in a growing industry.

Kerry ETB runs a unique and innovative Wind Turbine Maintenance Technician programme at its flagship training centre in Monavalley, Tralee.

This programme addresses the growing demand for skilled technicians.  The wind turbine sector is actively seeking personnel who have the knowledge, skills and qualifications to overhaul and maintain large commercial wind turbines.

The centre’s current group of participants are fast approaching the end of the programme and are preparing to take up employment with some of the biggest and most reputable companies in the business.

Programme participants must hold a National Craft Certificate or equivalent trade qualification in one of the electrical, mechanical or motor trades.

However, consideration will also be given to electrical/mechanical college graduates who have relevant post graduate work experience.

The programme builds on the participants’ initial apprenticeship training and subsequent work experience to develop the practical and technical skills needed to carry out planned and unplanned maintenance on the electrical, mechanical, gearbox and hydraulic systems of large commercial wind turbines.

The highly sought after programme graduates will join multi-disciplined teams deployed by Irish and European companies to service and maintain large commercial wind turbine located throughout Ireland and further afield.

The programme, which is 36 weeks long, is divided into 26 weeks of training in the centre’s customised training facility which houses a training lab, workshop, climbing tower and commercial wind turbines, and ten weeks on-the-job training with one of the Irish or European wind turbine companies operating in Ireland.  Course certification includes a City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Power Engineering Wind Turbine Operations & Maintenance and a number of Global Wind Organisation Certificates.

The next course is commencing shortly. If you hold the required entry qualifications and would like to apply or find out more about the programme visit the Kerry ETB Training Centre website at or phone 066 7149600.
