A TEAM of Kerry ETB apprentices have been recognised for their innovative problem solving skills at a National Award ceremony.

The 2019 Generation A Competition Awards event was organised by SOLAS, the National Further Education and Training Authority and took place in Dublin’s Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road on Thursday last April 11.

A team of plumbing and metal fabrication apprentices Andrew Coneran, Enda Surlis, Jonathan Byrne & Brian McMahon from Kerry ETB’s Monavalley Campus shared the Problem Solving Award with Athlone Training Centre and Longford Westmeath ETB. Limerick Clare ETB won the overall award.

Now in its second year, the Generation Apprenticeship competition celebrates the best teamwork, leadership, creativity and problem-solving skills of Ireland’s apprentices. The competition challenges teams of apprentices around the country to design and produce a 6-foot, 3-dimensional A letter (based on the Generation Apprenticeship brand) using the materials/equipment/tools of their industry. The entries is assessed by an independent team of judges.
