THERE were 692 incidents relating to Kerry’s Fire Brigade Service up to the end of July this year.
This is according to the Emergency Services Report revealed at the September meeting of Tralee Municipal District of Kerry County Council on Monday.
This number is up on the same period last year when 615 incidents were reported. There were 213 gorse fire in this period, nearly triple the 81 for the same period in 2014.
The report stated this is likely to have a negative impact on the Fire Service Operations Budget for 2015.
The number of chimney fires was also up from 81 to 95 in this period, but the number of road traffic collisions was down to 79 from 92 in the first seven months of 2014.
The report also stated that all firefighters from each of the ten stations in the county have received training in the use of defibrillators.
