KERRY Fire and Rescue Service experienced a busy period for callouts over the weekend. From Friday last to Sunday night the service had 21 callouts to deal with incidents including 12 gorse fires.

On Friday/Saturday morning fire crews were required to deal with gorse fires in Knocknagoshel, Caragh Lake, Brosna, Muckross and Moyvane.

Kerry Fire and Rescue Service is asking people to be vigilant about starting fires in the countryside as carelessness can endanger lives and cause severe damage to forests and wildlife as well as being a financial burden on the local authority.
