Kerry face Clare v Limerick in the Munster

IT might only be October, but Kerry’s hurling and football teams were in the draw for Championship 2016 tonight and it looks likely that it’ll be a Kerry v Cork Munster final in Killarney again.

For the Kerry footballers, it’s a date with either Clare or Limerick in the semi-final while Cork will play the winners of Tipperary v Waterford in the other semi.

If, as expected, Kerry and Cork come through it’ll be a final in Killarney in early July, since Pairc Ui Chaoimh is still being redeveloped.

Kerry’s hurlers will face Offaly, Westmeath and Carlow in preliminary group in the Leinster championship.

Interestingly, the winners of that group face Galway and the runners-up play Laois in the quarter finals.

With Offaly the favourites to top the group, Kerry could find themselves in second place and a date with Laois. Who knows what could happen there!

It may sound incredible, but could Kerry pull off a shock to get to a semi-final?

RTE analyst, Cyril Farrell, speaking after the draw, said Kerry will have two home games and Ciaran Carey – whom he said is hotly tipped for the Kerry hurling job – has a great chance to impress with his charges.
