Michael Geaney has been ruled out for the rest of Kerry’s season with a back injury.

KERRY will be without the services of Dingle’s Michael Geaney for the rest of the season, according to the Kerry GAA website.

Speaking at a press briefing yesterday, Kerry manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice revealed that they received news this week, that the forward has a back injury that flared up before the Kildare game and will now keep him out for the duration of the season.

The Kerry boss also revealed that James O’Donoghue was making progress, but it’s uncertain whether he’ll make it back in time for the All-Ireland semi-final against Tyrone on Sunday week, while captain Kieran Donaghy will be fit for the clash.

Speaking about Michael Geaney, Eamonn Fitzmaurice was full of praise for his contribution to the team and squad.

“So, a big loss to us. A very important guy to the squad and a great personality, great character, good player for us and he’s out for the rest of the season, which is a big disappointment to himself obviously,’’ he said at the press briefing.

With regard to James O’Donoghue, Fitzmaurice said: “James is making good progress, hasn’t done any contact yet, we’ll have to wait and see how he gets on in the next week or so and other than that then, everyone else is good really. There’s a few bangs and bruises but we’d be expecting everyone to be available.’’
