Kerry GAA Proposes Sean Walsh For President

KERRY GAA chairman, Pat O’Sullivan, has proposed Sean Walsh to contest the Presidency of the GAA in 2017.

The Moyvane man was nominated for the position at last night’s County Committee meeting in Austin Stack Park.

The former Kerry and Munster Council Chairman was unsuccessful last time out when Cavan’s Aogán Ó Fearghail was elected.

Sean Walsh was elected Chairman of the Kerry Co Board in 1998 and held that position for ten years. As Chairman, among his greatest achievements was presiding over one of the most successful eras of the GAA in Kerry.

He also served three years as Vice Chairman of the Munster Council followed by three years as Munster Chairman from 2010 to 2012. He has served on a number of committees in Croke Park and is the current chairman of the National Referees Development Committee.

County Chairman O’Sullivan endorsed his candidacy saying; “Seán Walsh possesses all of the leadership attributes and qualities in abundance required for the job and I am proud to propose his nomination to lead the GAA as Uachtarán Tofa”.
