A KERRY man is part of a trio playing a hole in each of 32 golf courses, in all 32 counties later this month to raise much needed funds for ‘Breast Cancer Ireland’.

DJ Geaney, from Castleisland, who lost his mother to cancer in 2011, will join his two friends Michael Sheehan and Eoin Landers as they attempt to complete the never before attempted challenge in just under 40 hours from June 19 to June 20.

The ‘Pink Swingers’, as they are known, will drive 1,836km around Ireland in 40 hours and will spend 21 mins on each course in order to complete the challenge.

They will kicking off their marathon event at Castleisland Golf Club at approximately 5.15am on Friday June 19 and from then on, it will be all systems go until they finish up in Castlemartyr Resort in Cork at approximately 9pm on Saturday June 20.

They have currently raised just under €12,000 and are hoping to raise a lot more as they aim for their goal of €20,000.

The challenge is especially personal to DJ, whose own mother Nora passed away in 2011 after a lengthy battle with breast cancer.

She was a keen golfer and was heavily involved in Castleisland Golf Club. This fundraising campaign is clearly seen by DJ and his two friends as a way of remembering Nora while at the same time helping to raise funds for a worthy charity.

Anyone looking to donate to their efforts can do so on their fundraising page here with everyone who donates in with a chance of winning a weekend for two at the Castlemartyr Resort, including dinner and a round of golf.

You can keep up to date with their exploits at their twitter page here.
