KATIE Hannon was on hand to launch Sunflower Day which takes place this coming weekend at various locations around the county.

The RTE journalist was present at the Palliative Care Unit on Saturday, where Chairman of Kerry Hospice Foundation, Joe Hennebery, also made a very special presentation to the Kerry Hospice Hero for 2018, Sr Margaret from Listowel branch. She was the worthy recipient for her 20 years as a volunteer for the organisation.

Taking place on June 8 and June 9, Sunflower Day will see volunteers from KHF sell sunflower pins in towns around Kerry and the money that is raised will help fund the pledge they have of €500,000 in total to keep all the services provided within the new inpatient unit, the day unit and provides the home care services too.
