THE Kerry Hurling All Stars nominees have been announced after another entertaining season of hurling.

This is a not for profit event, organised to honour the Hurlers who participate in The County Senior Hurling Championship, for their dedication to the code, their clubs and to acknowledge the contribution of their families.

The Kerry Hurling All Stars, which will take place on Saturday, October 28, was the brainchild of Mike O’Halloran a few years ago, he brought the concept about to thank the club hurlers and their families for the entertainment they have provided the hurling public in Kerry.

Mike enlisted the help of the meticulous Timmy Sheehan — his commentary colleague in Radio Kerry — and they have been involved since.

The awards night has taken place in venues in North Kerry, this year the awards will take place in The Railway Bar Lixnaw.

It will begin with refreshments at 7.30pm with the awards beginning at 8pm sharp, the awards last about an hour and always begins on time.

This is probably the final year of the awards as the organisers realise that there are lots of financial calls on the hurling clubs.

The local former hurler to be honoured this year is Johnny Bunyan of Ballyduff. Other former hurlers to be honoured over the years have been Declan Lovett, Johnny Culloty, Ogie Moran while Diarmuid Lyng was the special guest last year with Sean Kelly, JJ Hanrahan of Munster Rugby and David Moran and Martin Ferris TD also involved  previously as guests.
