MEMBERS of the most successful Gaelic football team of all-time will be honoured at the 30th annual Kerry Supporters Club Social next month.

Taking place at Ballygarry House Hotel, it’s set to be a very special night where the five Kerry players — Ger Power, Pat Spillane, Ogie Moran, Mikey Sheehy and the late Páidí Ó Sé (who will be represented by his son Padraig Óg Ó Sé)— who each hold eight All-Ireland medals, will be celebrated.

Mikey Sheehy, Ogie Moran and Ger Power attended the launch on Monday night with members of the supporters club, Chairman of the Kerry County Board Tim Murphy and captains of Kerry winning sides in then past season.

Saturday, January 18 is the date for the evening which will begin at 7pm with a drinks reception in the Pavilion on arrival, followed by a fabulous menu and live band.

The highlight will be honouring the all-time greats on stage with MC Tim Moynihan from Radio Kerry’s Terrace talk who will put them through their paces in a live “on the couch” interview, where many a story of the glory years will be told.

Chairperson of Kerry GAA Supporters Club, Donie O’Leary, said; “It will be a gathering like no other we have had to date. To have such marvellous players and talent together with 40 medals collectively in the room is a first for the Kerry Supporters.  We travelled the length and breadth of the country to see these men play for Kerry and we really look forward to off the ball tales on the night.”

Tickets at €35 are for sale through any committee member or at the main reception at Ballygarry House Hotel 066-7123322. It’s going to be a fantastic night, taking place a week before the Kerry footballers start their National League campaign against the Dubs.

  1. It should be a wonderful occasion.. Please remember Mr Pat Griffin RIP on the night. Pat gave great service to Kerry and the state as a very well respected member of An Garda Siochana in Clonakilty for many years.
