GARDAI in Tralee are warning the public about an online scam after a Kerry man was conned out of a substantial amount of money recently.
The AIB customer received a text message from what he thought was his bank, advising him to change his account details through a link provided in the message.
He used the link to log on to his account and subsequently found out a large sum of money was taken from his account.
Speaking on Radio Kerry’s ‘Talkabout’ show this afternoon, Garda Patricia Fitzpatrick warned the public about engaging with anyone through such messages and to call the Garda station if they have concerns.
