Kerry Man Makes Final Of International Songwriting Contest

A RADIO Kerry presenter and singer-songwriter has seen his song chosen as a finalist in the International Song Writing Contest (ISC) this year.

Some 19,000 entries were received for the competition and Cathal Flaherty’s ‘A Thousand Miles’ is the only Irish artist included in the final.

The winning track is chosen by celebrity judges including The Script, Tom Waits, Bastille & Adam Lambert.  Previous winners include Vance Joy, Passenger & Bastille. The winning entry will be announced in April.

The Killarney man has been going from strength to strength after receiving huge national and regional airplay for ‘A Thousand Miles’.

Following on from this, he released his debut EP ‘The Head & Heart’ which went to Number 2 in the iTunes pop charts and number 5 in the iTunes album charts in 2018.

Cathal has been on the music scene since he was 16 and has been steadily gigging since then for the last 10 years.

Cathal has supported some incredible acts more recently including Tears for Fears in the INEC in January and many well known Irish artists including Jack L, Mundy, Paddy Casey, Delorentos, Aslan, Heathers, The Riptide Movement & Little Hours and has also been noted by Today FM as “One to watch”.
