KERRY-BASED ‘The Welcoming Project’ will host a dance and donate event online on Zoom in solidarity with ‘Black Lives Matter’ and people in Direct Provision in Ireland.
The Welcoming Project has invited Yah’Ya Kamate, from Ivory Coast, who teaches West African dance at the Ailey Extension in New York, to lead an online class in solidarity with Black Lives Matter protesters on this Wednesday at 7pm.
The class is open to everyone, will last one hour and will also feature brief contributions by speakers from Black Lives Matter and from MASI (Movement of Asylum Seekers Initiative) Ireland.
All donations will be split 50:50 between BLM charity and MASI Ireland – organisations that combat racism in the US and Ireland.

The Welcoming Project was initiated in 2016 by Catherine Young Dance to foster cultural integration and social inclusion and combat racism through dance.
Initiated in Kerry, it has run programmes in Dublin, Longford, Galway, Limerick and Clare and through African dance, Palestinian Dabke, Irish dance and contemporary dance – striving for equality, inclusion and understanding of one another’s cultures.

Fostering cultural integration. Good luck with that, if you have not noticed there is a pattern of more multicultural, diversity and division in more prominent western nations than ours and they have all clearly failed.
Where is the cultural integration in the UK, with statues of the native peoples political and historical figures are being attacked and even removed.
Being Irish I can understand having a different view on Oliver Cromwell or Winston Churchill in Ireland. However, when I visit or reside there that view point has to shift, I have to integrate.
Winston Churchill did fight a war to the death with Adolf Hitler after all, so attacking his statue is highly ignorant.
Great Britain did not start slaver. However, no other nation on earth done more to prevent its practice in the end by using their Royal Navy.
The best, was the Abraham Lincoln statue being attacked as he ended slavery in the USA and took a bullet in the head too for his troubles.
There has been a failure of some people entering the west to integrate and this has to change.
The western world has never been consumed by identity politics and political ideologies like it is now, since the beginning of the world wars.
There is a lot of people in direct provision that should not even been in our country in the first place as they are illegal economic migrants and not genuine refugees in a moment when there has never been so many native Irish homeless or waiting or social housing and getting jumped by the new comers as they are members of a minority group and so on another divided nation comes into existence.
I don’t blame the African and Asian nations for not allowing this new form of colonialism into their countries.

P.S. I will say it again, I am not racist. I support legal controlled immigration. Being a nationalist does not make me far right and being a so called white male does not give me privileged.
There was a time, not too long ago when it would go without saying that an Irish man was not considered white or privileged.
I have no guilt as I and my forefathers suffered just as long and hard as any other race who lost their freedoms.
