KILLORGLIN restaurants are having a good week as another well-known eaterie in the town won a national award on Tuesday night.

Nick’s Seafood Restaurant and Gastro Bar won Best Gastro Bar in Ireland at the YesChef Awards 2017 at the City North Hotel in Co. Meath.

Earlier this week, their neighbours, Giovannelli’s, won a ‘Bib Gourmand’ and will feature in the Michelin Guide, so it’s been a good week for Killorglin.

It was an amazing night for Nick’s as they also won Best Gastro Bar Munster, Best Restaurant Munster and Best Front of House Munster and were nominated in the Best Chef category.

John Foley of Nick’s was delighted with the awards.

“We’re over the moon, it’s absolutely fantastic. It’s great for the town too as it enhances its reputation as a food hub. It’s all down to the dedication and hard work of the staff,” he said.

Elsewhere, a Killarney hotel won an award for its food this week. The Heights Hotel won top prize at the Great Carvery Hotel of the Year awards. Well-known rugby referee Nigel Owens  presented the awards at the Grand Final at the Herbert Park Hotel in Dublin. Another great week for Kerry hospitality.
