Classes resumed in all centres last Monday, September 14th.

Access Fund Scholarships

With the generous support of our teachers, families and private, business and corporate friends,  a limited number of scholarships is made available annually to provide access to the full range of Kerry School of Music classes to persons of any age experiencing economic, intellectual or physical exclusion. Written, emailed or telephoned or in-person requests for information about these access  opportunities can be addressed in confidence to the Director, Kerry School of Music, High St. Tralee, Co. Kerry or emailed to kerrymusicschool@eircom.net or call 0874103220.

New Piano

With the support of generous private benefactors, the school has recently acquired a magnificent as new Yamaha C3 grand piano (retailing new at just under €30,000.). This will allow students to be taught on a world class piano. Kerry School of Music already houses the Kerry County Council Steinway Series D piano which is used for concerts, recitals, master classes and workshops both in the School and throughout the county.

Scholarships

A limited number of scholarships will be offered to students interested in taking up ‘endangered’ instruments such as the Bassoon, Double Bass, ‘Cello, Viola, Trumpet, French Horn, Baritone, Tuba. Conditions apply.Please contact us on 066 7125690 for details.

Les Miserables

Light Opera Society of Tralee Les Miserables rehearsals are proceeding apace. It is heartening to see so many new young and immensely talented performers taking to the stage in this most popular of shows. Les Mis has the distinction of being the longest running and most successful musical of all time. It runs in Siamsa from September 24th to 26th with matinees each day. Welcome to new teachers

Anna Connelly, a native of Listowel, returns to the county with her family having graduated with first class honours B. Mus and M.A.and having won the Feis Ceoil. Anna will teach piano, singing and Junior and Leaving Cert Music in Tralee and Listowel.

Valter Fralda from Portugal who has recently taken up the directorship of the famous City of Cork Male Voice Choir also joins us teaching piano in Killarney and Killorglin. Valter has a B.A and MA in piano pedagogy.

Natia Giutashvili who holds an advanced Diploma in piano pedagogy joins us to teach piano in Dingle and Killorglin.

Rachel Scoazec a French native who holds a PhD in Irish Studies from the Sorbonne replaces Adolf Packeiser teaching Irish Harp. Rachel also teaches Classical Guitar in Killarney, Killorglin and Tralee.
