Kerry Sinn Fein Chooses Candidates For Listowel Electoral Area

THE Sinn Fein candidates to go forward for next year’s local elections in the Listowel Electoral Area were chosen last night at the Listowel Arms Hotel.

Nominations for sitting councillors Robert Beasley and Tom Barry were the only ones received before the deadline.

Robert Beasley from Ballybunion has been involved in Sinn Féin since the early 1970s and contested his first election in 1974, he is married with grown up children, he works as a full time public representative.

Tom Barry from Listowel is a former Mayor, he is married with children and works in Kerry Ingredients in the town.

Speaking after the convention before a crowd of over 80 members, Tom Barry said; “I am honoured to have been selected to run for Sinn Féin in next May’s local elections. I want to thank the members for firstly nominating me and secondly for endorsing both Robert Beasley and I here tonight.”

On Thursday night, John Buckley was chosen by the party to run in the Killarney Electoral Area, while Damian Quigg was selected to run in the Kenmare Electoral Area. Candidates for the Tralee and the new Castleisland LEA will be chosen on Saturday night at a meeting of delegates at the River Island Hotel at 8pm.
