Kerry To Go To The Polls On A Saturday As Election Set To Be Announced

.

THE General Election is set to be announced and the bad news for primary school children (and their teachers) is that they won’t get a day off.

Saturday, February 8 is the date when the country will go to the polls, according to many political correspondents this morning, marking a departure from a usual weekday date.

The government is holding a Cabinet meeting this morning and it’s expected that Taoiseach Leo Varadkar will seek a dissolution of the Dáil later today.

Meanwhile, it’s really all systems go now for the election candidates in Kerry, who have already been canvassing around the county. The jostling for pole positions for their posters is set to begin in earnest now as they embark on a three and a half week campaign.
