A MONTESSORI teacher, who is originally from Tarbert, spun the Winning Streak wheel when she played the National Lottery TV game show on Saturday night in place of her mother and won her a whopping €93,000.

Sharon Parkinson who lives in Limerick City did her mum Muriel Parkinson proud by winning €75,000 from her wheel spin to add to the €18,000 she had already taken from the RTE One show.

Last week when the call came through to Sharon from Muriel announcing her name had been drawn to appear on Winning Streak, the tone in her mum’s voice hinted that she would be asking her daughter to go on the National Lottery show in her stead, although she didn’t formally ask at first.

After all, for years, Muriel always said that she would never want to actually go on the show. Eventually it emerged that Sharon would be the one to play in her mother’s place – something she was happy to do.

Sharon lives in Limerick City but is originally from Tarbert, where her parents Muriel and Eric (who have been married for 47 years) still live.

Sharon has been with her partner Patrick for the past 25 years and the couple have one daughter, Eve, who is five years old. Sharon was cheered on from the audience in RTE this weekend by her parents and some of her five siblings and other members of family and friends.

Sharon is a Montessori teacher at Poppins Pre School in Limerick City, a place she loves working in and has been for almost 25 years. With her Winning Streak haul from the show, Muriel hopes to get a car as her current one has been giving her all kinds of trouble lately.  She also will look after the rest of the family.
