A LOCAL man presented a cheque to Fenit RNLI at the weekend after raising funds at a swimming event in late August.
Well-known swimmer Kevin Williams organised the Across The Bay swim from Derrymore beach to Locke’s beach in Fenit, which was an impressive 4.8km.
They had 49 swimmers taking part, 22 of whom were doing it for the first time. The event raised €1,420 and Kevin said he’s looking forward to holding the event again next year.
“We had great volunteers, kayakers, caterers, drivers, safety boats and even bagpipes at the finish. The proceeds were raised through the swim entries and a few donations,” said Kevin.
