In an interview to be published in tomorrow’s paper, he says he has spoken to his family and Eamonn Fitzmaurice and decided he will retire when he can’t help Kerry anymore.

Donaghy will turn 35 in March and is looking to his 14th season in a Kerry jersey. He enjoyed another great season in 2017 and was nominated for an All-Star.

He will continue playing basketball with Garveys Tralee Warriors while he has started gym sessions with the Kerry backroom staff and will attend the odd field session with the county setup over the coming months.

He will then be available for Kerry after the basketball season ends in early spring, similar to last year’s arrangement.
