Less Than Five Cases Again For Kerry, 522 Reported Nationally

THERE were less than five new cases of COVID-19 reported for Kerry at the NPHET briefing this evening.

When the number is less than five, the exact number is not revealed until the following day on the COVID data hub.

There were nine additional deaths and 522 more cases reported nationally. Four deaths occurred in March, three occurred in February, one in January while one remains under investigation. The people who died were aged from 69-94 years.

The 14 day incidence of new cases for Kerry is 59.6 per 100,000 people. There have been 88 cases reported in the same period and the rolling five day average of cases is 5.

Kerry is still the the county with the second lowest incidence of cases in the past 14 days. Cork has the lowest with 59.5 per 100,000 people. The national incidence rate over the past 14 days is 185.1.

280 of today’s reported cases were in Dublin; 28 are in Meath; 28 are in Kildare; 26 are in Cork; 19 are in Donegal and the remaining 141 cases are spread across 19 other counties

There have now been 222,169 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland and 4,405 people who died with the virus since the start of then pandemic.

As of 8am today, 426 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 102 are in ICU. There were 34 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

As of March 2, 460,637 doses of vaccine have been administered in Ireland:

• 315,056 people have received their first dose
• 144,581 people have received their second dose
