UP to 20 new jobs will be created in the new year when the new Lidl supermarket opens at its Edward Street site.
Construction at the old Heiton Buckley site is continuing apace, with steady progress being made for its scheduled February opening. Their second store in Tralee – the other Lidl is located on the Castlemaine Road – will result in an investment of approximately €6.5million in the area.

According to a Lidl press officer; “the store is scheduled to open in mid to late February and will create between 15 and 20 new positions. Our current premises will remain trading and will retain all 23 current staff. The new store is a modern, state-of-the-art build which will offer customers an enhanced shopping experience. It is modelled on similar stores currently open in Clonmel and Gorey.”
The outlet will be almost 2,800 square metres over two floors and have 131 car parking spaces and 27 spaces for bicycles. The Heiton Buckley site was sold for well in excess of €1m back in November 2015, having been on the market at a €650,000 guide price from the selling agent REA North’s in Denny Street.
Lidl currently operates 147 stores in the Republic of Ireland, employing over 4,000 people.
