national-lotteryWELL that €1m lotto ticket sold in Listowel last week has been cashed in, but it wasn’t a Kerry resident who claimed it.

Friday 13th has been an exceptionally lucky day for National Lottery players from the kingdom of Kerry and Limerick. Today, two separate groups collected prizes to value of over €1.3 million.

First in were a family syndicate who bought their lucky €6 Quick Pick ticket in Griffins XL, Castlemaine Village and collected over €300,000.

They were just one number away from scooping the guaranteed €100 million jackpot on Friday, March 6. Today they took home a cheque for €315,070 – their Match 5 + 1 Lucky Star prize.

“We can’t believe we’re here,” said one of the happy winners. “When we checked the ticket, we thought we’d won €315 and were very happy with that. It’s only when we checked again that we saw it was €315,070. That was some jump!”

They look forward to taking some time before making any decisions for their windfall.

And later on Friday, a delighted married couple from Co. Limerick collected their top prize of €1,000,000 from the Daily Million game on Thursday, March 5. The ticket was sold in Fitzgeralds Service Station, Upper Church Street, Listowel. It was a €1.50 Quick Pick ticket sold on the day of the draw.

The couple, who do not wish their win to be a public one, were totally overwhelmed to have won this huge prize; they took up the story:

“We’re not regular players of Daily Million. We’d play it about four or five times each year, so this is an enormous surprise and we’re completely delighted by it all! And to think people say that Friday 13 isn’t lucky! This is the luckiest we’ve ever been,” beamed the couple over champagne celebrations in National Lottery offices in Dublin.

Plans for the win include: “Definitely holidays abroad to visit relations; Disneyland for the kids, and we’d love to do some home improvements, and be able to do the work with no expense spared,” said the happy couple who have a young family.

And will they be playing Daily Million again?

“You betcha! Wild horses couldn’t stop us. This game is definitely the ticket for us,” they laughed as they departed to bank the million euro prize.

The luck of the Kingdom continued in the EuroMillions and Plus draws on Tuesday evening. A lucky player who bought a €3 Quick Pick ticket in the Post Office in Glenflesk, won €500,000 in the Plus draw while a player who bought a €6 Quick Pick ticket in O’Connors in the Killarney Town Centre matched 5 numbers plus 1 Lucky Star to win €207,424.
