Celebration of Christie Hennessy Festival 2016

THE programme and line-up for The Celebration of Christie Hennessy Festival, which is now in it’s sixth year, has been announced.

This year’s festival which will be held in The Rose Hotel on November 25-26 and will feature performances from, John Spillane, Mikey Harte and Aonghus McAnally.

There will also be a special ceremony on the Saturday (November 26) near the statue of Christie, when the area will be named ‘The Christie Hennessy Plaza’. It will take place at 4pm and will be followed by the switching on of the Christmas Lights.

The Troubadour Club presented by Francie Conway will kick off the festival on Friday night at 8:30pm. Tickets €10. On the following night The IMRO Christie Hennessy Song Competition takes place again at 8:30pm at The Rose Hotel but is free to all.

Ten finalists selected from over 200 entries across Ireland will perform their original songs in front of a live audience and a panel of expert judges including special guest John Spillane.

The winning songwriter will be presented with a cheque for €1,000 on the night, with the runner up collecting €300 courtesy of Tralee Credit Union.

Once again this is sure to be a great two night’s entertainment that showcases up and coming talent along with honouring the musical legacy of one of Tralee’s most famous and beloved sons.
