TRALEE Lions Club has helped out the Meals And Wheels service to the tune of €2,000 which will help them continue their fantastic work.

The vital service delivers food to many elderly and people with disabilities in the Tralee area who are in need of a proper meal. Sean Cooke of Tralee Lions Club explained their role in Meals On Wheels.

“The Lions Club help out Meals and Wheels every Saturday in November, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, every Saturday in February and May.

The funds we’re contributing today help towards the upgrade of facilities in the Ozanam House kitchen to allow them to continue their great work,” said Sean.

The Lions Club are holding their annual Christmas collection on December 8/9 and are hoping the public can give what they can to help local causes.

Paddy Kevane of Meals On Wheels said any help they can get is essential.

“It’s vitally important. At Christmas last year we distributed over 200 dinners to whoever requested it. The previous year it was 150 so the need is growing.”

“If anyone would like to volunteer, we’d love to have them down here at Ozanam House on a Saturday morning at 10am. Call 089-2320818 or mealsonwheelstralee@gmail.com,” said Paddy.
