As the Listowel family sipped champagne in National Lottery offices in Dublin, the winning mother told of how her hot streak of luck with the National Lottery Christmas games resulted in her new found fortune. “In December, I won a hamper with the Hampers, Sweets & Treats scratch card which I was absolutely delighted with. A couple of days later, I won an extra €1,000 on the online National Lottery Christmas games bonus draw. These things really do come in threes,” she said.
“We would always receive a Millionaire Raffle ticket as a Christmas present from my mother in-law but she forgot about me this year,” she laughed.
“After Christmas, we were watching telly and after seeing an ad for the draw, my husband thankfully ordered me to pick up a ticket the next day,” she said.
The winning ticket was sold on December 30, the day before the draw at Eason Newsagents in Listowel, Co. Kerry.
“€100,000 is such a nice amount to win. It will make our lives a lot more comfortable and secure. We will be heading to the bank next week to make our final mortgage payment and after that, we have a sun holiday planned for all the family in a few weeks. We have a young family so every decision we make on the money will be made with the kids in mind,” added the delighted winner.
The Christmas Millionaire top prize winning ticket of €1 million, which has yet to be claimed was ticket number 179740. The lucky ticket was purchased at the Topaz Service Station on Lower Tivoli Road in Cork on 21 December 2016.
In total, there were 3,176 prize winners in the National Lottery Christmas Millionaire Raffle ranging from €500 to €1 million.
