Will Lixnaw reign supreme again this year?

WHILE most of the attention will be focussed on the footballers of Kerry on Saturday week, for much of north Kerry it’ll be hurling that takes centre stage.

The dates and times for the opening round of the Garveys Supervalu Senior Hurling Championship were finalised yesterday and sees champions Lixnaw kicking off the games with a tie against Ballyheigue in Abbeydorney on Friday, July 17, at 7pm.

There’ll be no games on Saturday on account of the Munster Final replay in Killarney, which leaves a triple hurling feast for fans on the Sunday.

First up is a double bill in Causeway with Crotta O’Neills taking on last year’s finalists Kilmoyley at 1:30pm. This is followed by Abbeydorney against St Brendan’s at 3pm.

If you haven’t had enough action, then you can hop over to Kilmoyley where Causeway match up with Ballyduff for a 6pm throw-in to complete the small ball-fest.
