Lixnaw Woman Vies For DIT Student Designer Of The Year Award

A LIXNAW woman is amongst 22 students competing at the semi final of Vodafone DIT student designer of the year awards on March 24 in Smock Alley.

The DIT Fashion Society announced that Nuala McCarthy from the north Kerry village has been shortlisted for her design entitled “Clash of Culture” for the semi final of the Vodafone DIT Fashion Show, the final of which will be held in Vicar Street Dublin on April 14.

Nuala studies at Mallow College of Design and Tailoring and is hoping to proceed to final of the event which is in aid of the Jack & Jill Foundation.

The theme of this year’s show is “cultural fusion” and according to the judging panel the standard of design is higher than ever.

The popular annual show, now in its twelfth year, is organised by 70 students from DIT who chose the Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation as their charity partner for the show.
