Purchase.ie the online store based in the Spa, Tralee is calling on people to think not about what they can do for themselves this Black Friday but what they can do for others.

According to Managing Director Colm Griffin, 2020 has been a difficult year for the mental health of everyone so he wanted to do something a little different for Black Friday.

“Many retailers engage in what are, at best, dubious offerings like 70% off this and that. We feel we offer genuine prices all year around so instead of engaging in the traditional Black Friday sales strategy we will be donating to a worthy charity instead”.

Through its 19 centres across Ireland, Pieta House offer a free counselling service to those with severe mental illness. Between March when the pandemic first stroke, up to early September they answered over 10,000 calls relating to suicide, self-harm and suicide bereavement.

“We are going to donate 10% of the money that our customers spend with us to our local Kerry branch of Pieta House in Tralee,” according to Colm.

This will apply to any orders received not only on Black Friday but right through to and including Cyber Monday (November 30) on the Purchase.ie website.

“It would be nice if people could simply feel good, not because they got a Black Friday bargain, but because they paid a fair price for something whilst supporting a great cause,” said Colm.
