THE staff at a local creche showed their generosity just before Christmas by holding a fundraiser for a local community initiative.

Tiny Tots Creche was even more colourful than usual when the children and staff held a Christmas Jumper day at the Castlewood Park facility on December 14.

One of the staff members suggested supporting Open Arms Kerry (OAK), a community initiative in the area of mental health. OAK is a volunteer led service whose aim is to help those in crisis.

Rita O’Sullivan Crean and Roger Harty from OAK were at the creche to accept the cheque for €160 on Wednesday.

“We’re very appreciative of the efforts of Tiny Tots Creche,” said Rita. “Every cent is very helpful as we try to establish a mental wellness centre in Tralee. We’re looking for a premises at the moment and hoping to have somewhere established in the next three months.”

“We encourage people to check out our facebook page [click here]  and we’re hoping the people of the town and beyond will buy into the idea of the wellness centre by donating €5 a month, whereby they can help us get established. It’s a community project so it would be the community helping their community.”
