A BALLYHEIGUE man kept up the family tradition of winning large sums in the lottery, when he picked up €16,000 on Saturday night.
Francis Kenny won the cash on the National Lottery’s The Million Euro Challenge TV gameshow, where a Tralee man was selected to take part in next week’s show.
Francis is the second in his family in less than a year to appear on a National Lottery television game show. His older sister Julie Kenny won €68,000 on Winning Streak last autumn.

Francis has visited Dublin just twice before – both times to RTÉ for a television game show. He hopes to travel out of the country for the first time with his winnings – to Spain on a holiday or to work abroad in Australia.
Son of the late Margaret and Timothy Kenny, Francis is the youngest of seven (his siblings are John, Michael, Julie, Maggie, Annmarie and Mary). He has three nephews and three nieces. He helps his brother Michael out on the farm and likes playing soccer, fishing and going to the gym.
Francis bought his lucky Scratch Card in the local post office and didn’t send it off for some time. It’s the first he has posted in to the National Lottery this year.
Francis’s nephew (Julie’s son), Alex Kenny (22) joined him on the Million Euro Challenge game show. Alex is a linesman and is completing a course with Transmission Links Ireland. He also works in Seamus Sullivan’s butchers in Tralee on Saturdays.
There was good news for Tralee man, Patrick Moriarty, when he was chosen as a contestant in the ‘Crack The Code’ part of the show next week, where he has a chance to win up to €10,000.
